So… I have been able to get some temporary part-time work and for that I am so grateful. Also, and more importantly (!!!!!), I have lost 17 lbs. since being unemployed!!!! I am starting to fit better into my business casual attire (just in time for job interviews)! I had my phone interview with CallBack#1 yesterday. Instead of a Group Supervisor in charge of a state (or half a state in some cases), they think I would be better suited for the Regional Manager position in charge of three states and the pay is roughly $10K more a year. The major downside is that I would have to relocate to central Missouri at the closest. I am so not feeling that! I am also pretty sure my house would NEVER sell with all the economic issues in this area right now.
I am still waiting to hear something from CallBack#2, so I told the first company I would have to have a few days to think about it and discuss it with James. The second company is also basically a Regional Manager position in charge of three states as well, but at least Tennessee is one of those states! There is a possibility I could stay in Tennessee with that one. I am just afraid the first company will need an answer before the second company can get back to me. SO MANY DECISIONS!!! lol
I live in central missouri, columbia to be exact. its a nicely sized college town and is a progressive bubble in a sea of small town conservatism. you could do worse. good luck on the job search its tough out there. a friend of mine recently had to relocate to find work and she rented out her house, hopes to make it back in a year.
Columbia is EXACTLY where I was looking at yesterday. I like the sound of “progressive”! lol More than likely I will have to rent out my house. Dreading that, but with three young children, I have to go where the money is and may not have a choice!!! How are the schools in Columbia?
they’re mixed, some of the problems of a larger city. at the elementary level there are some that are real good and some that have more problems. there are two (soon to be 3) high schools and rockbridge is better then hickman (although their mascot is the Kewpies so how bad can it be). there are good montesori schools if you can swing that. i don’t have kids but i am a social worker so i’ve dealt with the schools a bit. if you do come to columbia stay in touch if you have questions or need to know about stuff locally. its a really friendly community.
